West section of Guangzhou-Foshan circular intercity railway starts construction

On September 28, the first intercity railway in the Guangzhou metropolitan area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area announced new progress.

Guangfo West Ring Line, which stretches from Foshan West Railway Station to Guangzhou North Railway Station, is the west section of the Guangzhou - Foshan circular intercity railway, has already started construction.

Guangfo West Ring Line is about 47 kilometers long, of which about 16.5 kilometers in Guangzhou and 30.5 kilometers in Foshan. It consists of 9 stations: except for the existing Guangzhou North Station and Foshan West Station, 7 new stations will be built, including Shishan East, Dalan, Guangyao South, Hegui, Tanbu, Huadugang and Shenshan North. The planned five-year construction lasts from September 2022 to September 2027.

As an important part of the Guangzhou-Foshan Circular Railway, the project will facilitate rapid connectivity among major transportation hubs, intercity railways, and city rails.

The above-mentioned transportation hubs consist of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou South Railway Station, Foshan West Railway Station and Guangzhou North Railway Station.

Intercity railways include Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity, Guangfo South Ring Line, Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway, Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Railway.

And city rails cover the planning Guangzhou Metro Line 9 west extension and Line 29, Foshan Line 8, 14, 15, as well as Foshan Tram Line T6.
