With some local drivers worrying about the damage caused to their cars by different kinds of fuel they have access to on long trips during the May Day holiday, a vehicle expert with the local emission supervision center has suggested they carry along fuel purifier.
As Shenzhen is pioneering cities nationwide in using the China III standard fuels, many worry they will not be able to buy the same kind of gas on trips outside the city. With much lower levels of benzene and sulfur, the new fuels better protect the engines of vehicles. Using other fuels can harm the engines, the Daily Sunshine said Tuesday.
"But bringing fuel along can be unsafe. For imported deluxe cars, low quality fuel may create a big problem. They can bring fuel clarifiers on the trip," the expert said.
