The Bureau of Urban Utilities and Landscaping of Guangzhou Municipality announced that the central greenbelt inside Ersha Island will be reconstructed into a high-quality, landscaped park. The preliminary design plans are soon to be released by participants in an international design competition. The reconstruction is scheduled to start within this year.

According to the green area landscaping plan several areas are to be redone within the scope of the project.  Areas to be included consist of the central greenbelt inside Ersha Island, the greenbelt inside Hongcheng Park, Haixinsha Townspeople Square and Zhujiang New City all of which will form an integrated urban ecological leisure greenbelt. The reconstruction project of  the greenbelt inside Ersha Island is listed as one of the Guangzhou New Greenland Projects.

A designer participating in the management of the construction project commented that he is very confident in the approval of the reconstruction of the Ersha Island component. He says that citizens and visitors will be attracted by the elegant Lingnan garden art when they come to appreciate the classic music in Xinghai Music Hall or the avant-garde art works in Guangdong Fine Arts Museum.
