During the 101st and 102nd China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), Guangzhou's hotels will continue to adopt the guiding prices established by the municipal government, The highest price is RMB3,300 for a five-star hotel business room (excluding service charges), and the lowest price is RMB505 for a two-star hotel room. For non-star hotels, the prices can be decided by the hotels on their own but should not exceed the guiding prices for higher grade hotels, said Li Zhao, Executive President of Guangzhou Hotels Association. "Economic hotels" will implement the guiding prices for two-star hotels.

High grade hotels that have submitted an application to the tourism industry management authorities for price raise should also submit a written application to the Guangzhou Hotels Association. The new price policy will be implemented after a review by the Guangzhou Tourism Bureau.

The new guiding prices are 15% higher than the same period of last year. However, platinum five-star hotels are not limited by the guiding prices. After the 103rd China Import and Export Fair, the government may gradually liberalize hotels' prices according to the supply and demand for hotel rooms.
