At present the commercial area of Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street is 220,000 square meters, said Hu Aidong, Deputy Director of the Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street Management Committee Office. However, in the future it will be constantly expanded. The Jade wholesale maket and the Crystal wholesale market will be included; then the completion of a super-mall, invested in by Li Ka-shing, by the end of next year will further extend the commercial area; Baohua road and Datong Road may become 24-hour pedestrian roads when the time is ripe; with the completion of the Hengbao Plaza and the four-star Shipu Holiday Inn in the future, a big consumer paradise focusing on shopping, leisure activities, entertainment and restaurants will be formed.

There are many Time-Honored Brands on Dishipu Road, such as Quxiang Cake, Lin Heung Tea House and Taotaoju shop, and the unique Xiguan style arcade buildings have been kept, said Kuang Jianming, Vice Chairman of the Guangzhou Commercial Pedestrian Street Chamber. This section brings many cultural elements to Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street.
