Guangdong is to stage a grand opening ceremony of its tourism festival in n Tianhe Sports Center of Guangzhou this Friday. The festival features over 80 events, attracting 8,000 guests from other provinces and foreign countries, 10 foreign art troupes and 11 delegations from sister provinces.

According to Mr. Wang Weihua, director of the opening ceremony, the guests attending the ceremony include officials of Pan Pearl River Delta region, World Tourism Organization and Asian-Pacific Tourism Organization and tourism ministers of many Asian countries. Besides, representatives of 14 multinational tourism and hotel groups, 23 foreign air companies and world-leading travel agencies will attend the ceremony.

The closing party of the festival will be held in Window of the World, a grand theme park in Shenzhen. During the tourism festival, Shenzhen will have a variety of activities, including Deli Festival, Oyster Festival, Sand Sculpture Festival, Community Culture Festival, International Music Festival and the 7th Reading Month.

This year, the 10 art performance troupes from Guangdong's sister provinces add much color to the festival. They will bring their traditional dances and music on the opening ceremony and an evening in Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall on Nov 25.
