According to a survey by the Guangzhou municipal holiday office, the number of package tours to western China has increased by 1.2% over the same period last year.

West China has become the most popular travel route for the 7-day National Day holidays. Varied cultures and comfortable environments are the attraction of west China. The survey shows that during the National Day holidays, tourists to the northwest are doubling, compared to 2004, while tourists to southwest increase by over 30%. Over 90% of airline tickets from Guangzhou to Changzhi, Luoyang and Wuyi Mountain have been booked. Train tickets from Guangzhou to Guilin, Kunming, Qingdao, and many other western cities on September 30 and October 1 have already been sold out.
