CHECKPOINTS would adopt measures to smooth the travel to Hong Kong Disneyland, which will open Sept. 12, it was announced Monday (August 1st).

Huanggang Checkpoint will reschedule its reconstruction plan from September to October to avoid coinciding with the Disney's opening. Travelers are recommended to pass Luohu Checkpoint during Huanggang Checkpoint's reconstruction.

Huanggang Checkpoint is now badly overloaded. It was designed to deal with 50,000 passengers a day, but some 150,000 passengers passed the checkpoint every day. The situation will become more severe after the opening of Disneyland.

After the reconstruction, Huanggang Checkpoint can deal with about 250,000 passengers, 16,000 cars and 4,800 coaches every day, five times the previous capacity. It is expected to become a favorable choice after that as it is the closest checkpoint to Disneyland.

Besides, 60 more coaches to Hong Kong will be added at Huanggang Checkpoint after Disneyland opens. Express coaches to Disneyland will also be available at Huanggang. The theme park is planning to sell tickets at Huanggang Checkpoint.

Customs priority is now in consideration for tourist groups to Disneyland.

It is highly recommended to go to Disneyland via Luohu Checkpoint in the park's first months of operation.

In another development, six more self-service passages were put into use at Luohu Checkpoint on Monday, adding to the previous six self-service passages.
