The number of flights traveling from the city of Weihai of Shandong province to South Korea has increased to 21 as of last Friday, in an attempt to keep up with the increasing air tourism needs between the northern Chinese city and South Korea.

The number of South Korean tourists traveling to Weihai can reach up to more than 3000 every week, among which about one-sixth come to play golf on the weekends.

As Weihai is the nearest Chinese city to South Korea, it only takes 45 minutes to arrive by plane. This short distance, the cheap airplane tickets and low costs for playing golf in Weihai attract numerous South Koreans to cross the border for the Chinese green on the weekends.

Ever since Weihai Airport opened operations in March of last year, Koreans have accounted for 90% of its total incoming and outgoing passengers. Thus, Weihai's new airport has already become the most important point of entry from South Korea to China.

The airport's Entry & Exit Checkpoints, Customs and Quarantine Departments have consistently collaborated for a more advanced overall transit environment. Thanks to the fourth-generation comprehensive system adopted by Weihai Airport on April 21st, the airport boasts 10 checkpoints to serve travelers. Entry and exit procedures at the airport now average only 5 minutes.

This efficiency, and now the increase in flights, makes Weihai an ideal place for South Koreans seeking a short getaway.
