Guangzhou Metro announced yesterday, that its Metro Line Three passed the orbit test by reaching the maximum design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The speed is the highest of its kind among its counterparts in the country.
The first section of Guangzhou Metro Line Three was put into operation in December of last year. The metro currently operates daily at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour. Metro Line Three will be completely open to commuters by the end of this year. The orbit test was made to make sure the metro can meet the original design requirement.
