Three new bridges linking Shenzhen and Hong Kong to speed up border crossing will open Wednesday.

They are a new bridge from Huanggang Checkpoint to Lok Ma Chau in Hong Kong, a bridge at Shatoujiao Checkpoint and the renovation of the footbridge at Luohu Checkpoint.

The new Huanggang-Lok Ma Chau bridge is a two-way four-lane one specially designed for trailers, with a daily handling capacity of 40,000 vehicles.

Opening at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the new bridge at Shatoujiao will carry vehicles from Hong Kong to Shenzhen while the existing bridge will be for vehicles from Shenzhen to Hong Kong.

The renovations have increased the width of the footbridge at Luohu Checkpoint to 16.7 meters wide, 7.1 meters wider than the old one. It will open at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
