The Ministry of Railways said prices of train tickets will be adjusted in keeping with the transport peak brought about by the Spring Festival, which falls on February 9 this year.

Tickets will be raised by 15 to 20 percent from February 1 to 7, decreased by 10 percent during the festival and rising again from the 11th.

Altogether 137 million people are estimated to be taking trains during the coming festival, which is seen as an occasion for family reunion in China.
