A free travel guide for Spring Festival transport is being offered to passengers at some transport terminals in the city.

The booklet, containing complete information about various means of transport such as buses, trains, ferries and planes, is designed to help passengers prepare for travel during the festival.

It is the first time a travel guide has been compiled for travelers, the city's Spring Festival peak transport control office said.

Some 1,000 copies were dispatched to Futian Bus Station and large companies such as Foxconn and Huawei on Wednesday.

There are 117,000 employees at Foxconn, more than one third of whom plan to return home for the Spring Festival. The company has so far helped its employees book 4,800 air tickets and 19,000 group train tickets via the Internet.

However, the company still faces a headache as there are more than 10,000 workers whose travel plans have been disrupted because of a limited supply of train tickets.

"We encourage people to choose buses for the festival as road transport is pretty strong this year," said an official surnamed Xu.

Those foreigners who need the travel guide booklet can call the Shenzhen Daily hotline (13798312384) for help.
