China Southern Airlines is to schedule more than 2,500 charter flights during the Spring Festival travel period to meet the high demand.
These will include more than 1,500 domestic flights to and from Guangzhou and 200 international flights and flights.
The Spring Festival travel period is from January 25 to March 5, with peak between Feb. 1 and 16.
Before February 8, China Southern Airlines will schedule flights to Changsha, Chengdu, Wuhan, Chongqin, Nanchang, Hefei and Fuzhou.
From February 9 to 16, most flights are scheduled for tourist destinations in Southwest China, Harbin, and Hainan for the first three days. Flights for the remaining days will cater for people returning to work.
More passengers are expected a day or two after the Lantern Festival, which falls on February 23.
International charter flights are mainly bound for Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and Thailand.
