CHECKPOINT authorities were dealing with disruptions to a number of bus services at the Huanggang Checkpoint, sources from the department said Wednesday.
Some Hong Kong passengers called the Shenzhen Daily Wednesday complaining that several buses had not been allowed to pick up passengers at the Huanggang Checkpoint since Tuesday.
The Hong Kong buses "lacked legal procedures" with the checkpoint and were "disrupting transport orders," a checkpoint source said.
The checkpoint authorities were discussing the matter with Hong Kong authorities, the source said, but refused to give further details.
The checkpoint announced Tuesday that short-distance, through-coaches traveling between Hong Kong and Huanggang would not be allowed to pick up passengers at the checkpoint until March 16.
Travelers can only board authorized Yellow Bus vehicles and long-distance cross-border buses.
It is estimated that about 30,000 to 40,000 passengers and 12 percent of the cross-border buses, or about 100 vehicles, would be affected by the new measure, Hong Kong newspapers reported Wednesday.
Long-distance buses are those traveling between Hong Kong and Guangzhou or other distant areas. Short-distance buses travel between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Yellow Bus is the only franchised shuttle service traveling between San Tin and Lok Ma Chau on the Hong Kong side and Huanggang in Shenzhen.
