THE Shenzhen airport pier will open a new sea route to Hong Kong's Chap Lap Kok International Airport next Monday, two days before the National Day holidays, sources at the pier said Monday.
The airport pier will then have three sea routes to Hong Kong and it will take just 40 minutes from the pier to Hong Kong. Upon disembarking, passengers will take the airport bus to the airport through a closed special passage in about five minutes.
The border crossing procedures and check-in process have been simplified and outbound passengers will not have to go through border crossing formalities in Hong Kong.
With an increasing number of mainland tourists traveling to Hong Kong and Macao in recent months, the pier has been operating sea routes between Hong Kong, Macao and Shenzhen since Sept. 10.
In another development, Shenzhen airport has been gearing up for the coming holidays. It will open all of its 13 passages for security inspections then.
During peak times, the airport will consider opening temporary passages for international passengers. Another 500 luggage trolleys will be provided in the airport lounge. More buses will be scheduled between the airport and the urban area.
Sources said the Shenzhen Airlines had published its overtime schedule in which an additional 172 flights had been scheduled.
