Guangzhou will start building a big park in Huangge Town in Nansha area.

The Dashanna Park will occupy 6.1 square kilometers, seven times as large as Yuexiu Park in Guangzhou.

It will be Guangzhou's biggest park when completed. The project will cost 600 million yuan (US$73 million) to 800 million yuan.

The Dashanna area is in the future central business district of Nansha.

It is expected to become a resort for residents in the Pearl River Delta region. It is also expected to boost the Nansha economy and protect the natural environment.

Dashanna now comprises hills and farmlands, but the natural environment is deteriorating with more than 10 quarries operating in the area.

The park will include a science zone, a 40-hectare golf course and a garden.
