The 222-hectare Haizhu Orchard Reserve, which straddles Guangzhou Thoroughfare South, will be turned into two big parks.
The design scheme offered by the South China University of Technology, leisure plus forest, recently won out as the final plan for the two parks. They will be named Ruibao Leisure Park and Dongfeng Forest Park.
The orchard, reputed to be one of the "southern lungs" of the city, was not easy to access and lacked entertainment facilities.
The new parks will have buses and parking lots.
