Built in 1394, Dapeng Ancient City lies in the Pengcheng Village, Dapeng Town, in the eastern part of Shenzhen. It covers a total area of 110,000 square meters. The name of the city originated from the establishment of Dapeng Defensive City for the General to fight against pirates in Ming Dynasty, and it is also the reason that Shenzhen gets Peng City as its name. The magnificent South, East and West gates and residential buildings in Ming and Qing dynasties are well preserved. The zigzagging lanes were laid with stone plates. The buildings were in a layout for residence of generals. The residence of Lai Enjue, who was titled General Zhenwei and famous for fighting against invaders, is the grandest one. With 150 years in history, it owns tens of houses, halls, wells, corridors and yards. The plates and detailed decorations of the buildings made the city more attractive. Visitors can also find Marquis Temple, Goddess Temple, Temple of Marshal Zhao, and General's Office here.
