THE annual international magic festival in the Happy Valley will be on again from Wednesday through Oct. 7.
For the first time, the festival will be jointly sponsored by China Central Television (CCTV) and the Happy Valley theme park.
"It will surpass all our previous magic festivals," a park source said, adding that it would feature renowned magicians from the United States, Britain, Russia, Ukraine, Spain, New Zealand and other countries.
More than 20 Chinese magicians will perform on the same stage with their foreign counterparts.
There will be six performances daily during the weeklong National Day holiday. There will also be seminars and exhibitions concerning magic shows.
American Jon Armstrong will give unique close-up magic shows. According to show organizers, Armstrong is Microsoft founder Bill Gates' favorite magician.
Also featured will be Andrew Goldenhersh, also known as the "Gold Finger Magician." Goldenhersh features surrealistic and classical techniques in a passionate, humorous and suspenseful show.
Among other foreign magicians are a couple who will present a mind-reading act, and a pianist and a magician will work together to combine classical music and magic.
