Men in Guangzhou are embarrassed to buy Viagra, an impotency drug, over the counter, reports the Information Times.
Only one tablet was sold in two days. But sales of traditional Chinese medicines to enrich the kidney have been soaring.
It is estimated that over 30 per cent of adult males in the province suffer from impotency, but less than one third seek medical help.
Since older men are most likely to develop the problem, a survey of the sex lives of the middle-aged and elderly in Guangdong Province, approved by the Guangdong Health Department, has been conducting research on males aged 40 to 70 as of June this year.
