A teenager had quit school to set up a sex consultation hotline for other teenagers, Xinhua News Agency reported Wednesday (Jan. 26th).
Li Tong, 18, opened the hotline last October and is now receiving dozens of phone calls seeking help.
Li, from Northeast China's Changchun City, capital of Jilin Province, said the idea of opening a sex hotline occurred to him when he saw widespread ignorance of sex among teenagers.
"One of my friends faced enormous pressure for having slept with a girl during the second year of senior high school," said Li.
"I was given strange looks when visiting a sex culture expo, because no teenagers were there."
Before Li opened the hotline, he had worked part-time as a bar waiter, where he met many young people who had problems related to sex but had no one to talk to.
Li supports the hotline and advertising expenses by writing articles for newspapers. He is now studying senior high school courses by himself.
His consulting work mainly involves talking about sexual problems with people, and offering advice.
Some adults are against the move, saying Li did not have any experience and his advice might mislead people.
Others encouraged him saying that, as a teenager, it was easier for him to communicate with other teenagers.
