National bureau of statistics announced on December 20 that the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2004 was much bigger than previously estimated. Guangdong's new figure is 1,886.462 billion yuan, up from 1603.946 billion yuan.

The south China province's GDP was expected to exceed 2.15 trillion yuan in 2005, the urban and rural residents' deposits would hit 2 trillion yuan and the government revenue from Guangdong would exceed 400 billion yuan and the province's foreign trade volume would be over 400 billion yuan.
