Experts from Guangdong Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that no human-to-human bird flu transmission has occurred in Guangdong. Luo Huiming, an epidemiology researcher with Guangdong CDC, said the conclusion was made from a gene sequence test.
Virus samples were taken from two Guangdong bird flu cases, one confirmed in March and the other confirmed in June; both cases showed that the disease was caught through contact with poultry. Researchers are on high alert as a human-to-human infection by bird flu virus is confirmed in Indonesia.
