On the afternoon of January 30th, the Bureau of Civil Affairs of Guangzhou Municipality held a ceremony for collecting donations.
The ceremony witnessed many representatives of enterprises and citizens that donated totally RMB 6.1 million in cash and lots of goods. Currently, more goods have been provided for stranded passengers to fight against the cold weather.
As a result of joint efforts made by the relevant departments and organizations, the emergency plan for spring festival transportation has yielded great achievements. Liang Luying, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Municipality鈥檚 Bureau of Civil Affairs, said that the bureau had received many donations from organizations and individuals in the past days to help those passengers overcome difficulties.
Many donations from government departments, enterprises and institutions and citizens had been collected between January 28th and 30th. They have been delivered to the stranded passengers, policemen, armed police forces and whoever was in urgent need of help.
