Latest Updated by 2003-06-06 16:13:43

Shantou Airport, once hit seriously by SARS, shows signs of recovering in flights and passenger flow. On June 2nd, 8 flights with 372 passengers took off from the airport. This figure, the highest in the month, has reached one half of that before SARS occurred. The flights mainly depart for Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing Changsha, Chengdu and Kunming. The flights to Guangzhou had the highest occupancy rate, climbing back to 60% of usual. On May 28th, a flight to Kunming was full, a rare case recently. The occupancy rate for other flights is about 30%, much higher than during the SARS peak.
