One nurse has been sacked and five medical officials in Guangdong have been punished for their breach of duties in fighting SARS, according to sources from the Guangdong discipline and supervision authorities.
The nurse, named Lin Ruhua, was absent without leave after her clinic in Leizhou city received a patient with a high fever on April 23rd. Four medical officials in Meizhou city were removed from their posts or received demerits because they misguided people last month to by saying that a flu vaccination was useful against SARS and charged users 10 per cent more than the normal price. One medical official in Shantou was demoted for forcing two kindergartens to give a so-called anti-SARS vaccination to children.
