Soldiers on duty are wearing surgical masks in hopes of avoiding infection at Guangzhou Railway Station.
A non-typical pneumonia has been discovered in Guangdong.
By 3 PM yesterday, 305 cases had been reported in the province. Among them, 105 patients are hospital workers who were infected during their contact with patients. Five people have died and 59 people have recovered.
The Health and Medicine Department of the provincial government has gathered medical teams to examine the type and source of the disease. An expert team led by deputy minister Ma Xiaowei of the National Public Health Ministry has arrived in Guangzhou.
Symptoms of this pneumonia include high temperature, headache, limb aches or aching all over, and a dry cough, and some patients have breathing difficulties.
As the disease is infectious, the government has urged citizens to adopt protection methods including keeping air circulating at both home and work, using vinegar fumigation at home, washing hands frequently, wearing face masks if there is a need to contact pneumonia patients and exercising more.
