Pan-Pearl River Delta is the biggest-ever regional cooperation project in China and the forum enables the '9+2' leaderships to gather and explore the forms and means of cooperation, says Tung Chee-hwa，Chief Executive of HK SAR, in his opening address on the opening ceremony of the forum.
Tung stresses regional economy development is the current trend of global economy development. Launching of PPRD cooperation is in response to this trend. And PPRD also is in response to the needs of coordinated economic development in regions around China. The project is an important step in promoting Hong Kong, Macao and mainland economic cooperation.
Tung says the development of the region is influential to the whole country, and the regional cooperation is to enhance the participants' competitiveness and to take forward the reform and opening up as well as the economic development of China.
In his address, Tung highly appreciate GD provincial leaders for they initiate and strongly promoting the concept of PPRD.
