Mr. Wang Zhaocheng, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Railways

The Ministry of Railways will actively support the regional cooperation and development in the Pan-PRD by speeding up the construction of railways and building a better network of railways in the region, says Mr. Wang Zhaocheng, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Railways of China.

Despite some difficulties at present, he points out three emphases in the construction of PPRD railway network:

I. Construction of the express passenger transport network to meet the rapidly increasing demands of passenger transport by speeding up the construction of passenger transport special line, developing the PRD regional passenger transport system, as well as continuously carrying out the strategy of speed increase.

II. Strengthening of the existing freight passages to satisfy the increasing needs of goods transport

III. Expansion of the coverage of railway network to promote the regional development of PPRD

The development of railways has great significance in strengthening the economic relationship among the nine provinces, HK and Macao and in promoting the economic and social development in the region. At the same time, the promotion of PPRD regional cooperation and development also bring a precious opportunity for the leaping-forward development of railways, says Mr. Wang.

"Therefore, we will seize the opportunity to construct an integrated transport system in line with the regional cooperation and development of PPRD." Says Mr. Wang at the end of his speech.
