According to Qingyuan Development and Reform Bureau, the city, north to Guangzhou, will build light rail to connect itself with Guangzhou Metro Line 9. The line, with a budget up to 40 billion RMB, will cut the journey between the two cities by half, from 50 minutes to 25 minutes.

In recent years, Guangdong has focused on extending its light rail to connect cities within Pearl River Delta. And the Qingyuan-Guangzhou rail connection is expected to greatly help this city in mountainous area to develop its tourism, industry and real estate sector.

Besides this rail line, Qingyuan will complete the construction of Qingyuan-Lianzhou Highway, an important trunk line in north Guangdong, by the end of this year. And the city also plans to broaden the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Highway from 4 car lines to 8, there are forecast that the project will start before 2010.

And several highway projects are under research, which are said to connect the city with Foshan, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Qingyuan is expected to be the next hot investment destination and development pilot.
