"Triple helix" builds the axis of Limburg construction sector

The BIM model of the new center of the Confederatie Bouw Limburg was officially revealed with the help of a drone in recent days. It is said that the model of the building was printed in 3D.

The concept map of Confederatie Bouw Limburg.

“Construction Campus”, the new center of the Confederatie Bouw Limburg, will become the axis of the Limburg construction sector, as well as home to Confederatie Bouw Limburg and the Construction Academy, according to Limburg government.

The Construction Academy is a demonstrative project relating to energy-efficient, including renovation techniques, renewable energy, material management, water management, accessibility, and innovative construction processes.

The new Confederatie Bouw Limburg headquarters will be located on the Construction Campus, as will the Construction Academy, a triple helix operation in which the government, academia, and the business world come together.

The University of Hasselt and the Hogeschool PXL will be actively involved in the development of the Academy. An important part of the activities on the Construction Campus will involve the transformation of the construction sector.

The construction process itself will be an educational project in which construction and architecture students will be involved.

Furthermore, the transformation project comprises, among other things, 11 pilot projects in which approximately 40 companies, knowledge centers, architecture firms, and engineering firms will research how renovations can be done in an affordable, energy-efficient way in the future.

The Science Park is the perfect base of operations for making innovation within the construction sector possible. Multiple construction-oriented research institutes are or will be located here and the links for the introduction to new construction processes and management techniques will also be made here.

The building will become a true and sustainable landmark in which the newest, tested innovations in the construction sector are made tangible. The 1,500-m² building will also be energy active.
