Mr. Bullinger, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, a generator of scientific innovation and applied informatics specialist, gives a lecture on 'Fostering Innovation to Raise Economic Competitiveness' in Guangzhou on Nov. 4th.

Mr. Bullinger, one of the advisors of Guangdong governor, sets off his speech by this very articulate declaration: "Innovation is a subject that any the economic society and country doom to confront."

Bullinger says what successful innovators have in common is:
1) Growth-Oriented: sustainable growth through innovation
2) Strategy-Oriented: long-term perspectives
3) Customer-Oriented: to focus on seeking a solution of customer's specific problems
4) Competence-Oriented: enhancing competence by cooperating with both internal and external partners
5) Technology-Oriented: result of scitific research (new technology and processes) has to be flexibly translated into products.

In his speech, Bullinger also stresses on research should be customer-oriented. Only when the innovation meet the demand of the customers could it be welcomed by the market.

Mr. Bullinger says that Germany has experienced a miracle in economic re-takeoff since World War II, and the same miracle has now happened to Guangdong. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft had made great contribution to economic recovery of Germany, and he hopes that its experience would be proved to be helpful for Guangdong on its way of fast economic growth.
