As the host city of the 2010 Asian Games, Guangzhou plans to build itself into an environmental-friendly city. The year 2005 will see the launching of many green belt projects.
Green Belts will be built along the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, New Baiyun Airport Expressway and the Shawan Waterway.
The Projects also include a plan to improve the conditions of several parks in the city.
