Contestants of the highlighted Miss Universe 2004 Contest, Guangzhou qualifying event cheer for Guangzhou's Asian Games bid on March 17th.
Themed as 'Surpass the summit', the activities start with a torch relay ceremony in Tianhe Sports Center followed by a cheering ceremony for Asiad bid held in Zhongxin Square.
In correspondence with the standard of the 2001 Asiad "Peaceful Asian Games, Green Asian Games and Civilized Asian Games", the one-day tour of the girls aims to demonstrate a new view of Guangzhou: peaceful, green and civilized.
The "Miss Universe" Pageant, which is one of the three major world pageants, was first introduced to China in 2003.
This year the China final of the contest will be held in Kunming, Yunnan Province on April 28th, of which the champion is to represent China in the world final to be held in Ecuador, a country of northwest South America on the Pacific Ocean on July 1st.
