The Vice Magistrate of Guangzhou Haizhu District, Wei Weihan, revealed at a press conference today that, in anticipation of the imminent arrival of the Swedish sailing ship G??theborg, Haizhu district authorities have spruced up the exterior of buildings around Zhoutouzui, opened a 20,000 square meter temporary car park, and put in place such logistical support such as toilet and medical facilities.

During the Gotheborg's visit to Guangzhou, two events will be staged in Haizhu District: on the afternoon of July 18, there will be an unveiling ceremony for a commemorative statue at the Huangpu Historic Port; and, on the afternoon of July 21, the "Dragon Boats Greet Historic Ship" ceremony at the Zhuitouzui Wharf will take place.

Following the event, on July 21, the Gotheborg will be moored at the Zhoutouzui Terminal for the public to visit as the terminal there is well-equipped, deep enough and close to the downtown area.

Visitors can take bus Nos. 813, 248 or 243 to the terminus on Gexin Road and then walk to the Everbright Riverview Banyan Bank Cultural Plaza by following the road signs. Motorists may take the north exit of Gongye Avenue on Inner Ring Road A, proceed straight ahead for about 500 meters, and turn right into the Cultural Plaza; alternatively, they can take the exit on Baogang Avenue on Inner Ring Road B, proceed straight ahead along Gongye Avenue for 500 meters, and turn right onto the plaza.
