Huangput Historic Port: Ancient-style Building Complex

Huangpu Ancient Port, whose construction started in the 22nd year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, used to contain the only customhouse in China at that time. Renovation of the port began on March 29 and has largely been completed. The port now consists of a commemorative exhibition area, the Ancient Port Park and ancient docks and plank roadways.

The commemorative exhibition comprises the Huangpu Tax Office, Yongjing Military Barracks, Comprador Office, and Foreign Affairs Office, with the Huangpu Tax Office being the center of the building complex, which features a historic architectural style with green bricks and grey tiles.

Gotheborg Sculpture

The Ancient Port Park serves a supporting park for the commemorative exhibition area while the Gotheborg commemorative sculpture is the biggest tourist attraction in the park.

The relief sculpture wall is 5.2 meters long, 3 meters high, and 1 meter thick, and weighs 40 tons. The exquisite bronze sculpture of the G??theborg is embedded into a rock block featuring the bustling Guangzhou ancient port in the background. Three huge rocks on the right side of the relief sculpture wall form an integral whole, symbolizing bygone ages. The rugged granite contrasts sharply with the exquisite bronze sculpture, symbolizing the swift changes of the world. The back of the granite bears a description of the sculpture in Chinese, English and Swedish languages and past navigational routes, illustrating the epic expeditions of the G??theborg.

The ancient plank roadways contain preserved stone slabs, stone tablets, and ancient trees.
