Along the route to China, the Swedish ship Gotheborg called at Cadiz in Spain, Recife in Brazil, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth in South Africa, Fremantle in Australia and Jakarta in Indonesia. A crew of 19 people and another 60 volunteer apprentices work together under the commanding officer Gunnar Silfverberg-Utgaard, who has 35 years of experience at sea. |

The Swedish Ship Gotheborg departs Guangzhou and starts her voyage to Shanghai today (August 19). A Departure Ceremony is held in Nanhai Sea God Temple, Huangpu, Guangzhou this morning to wishes Gotheborg a bon voyage. |

5,000 tickets snapped up for Gotheborg's last open day |

Today is the last day when the Gotheborg will be open to the public. By 9:30 in the morning, all 5,000 tickets for visiting the ship on the day had been snapped up by 20,000 queuing visitors. The group of visitors onboard the ship disembarked with great reluctance at 5:30 in the afternoon. |

| Huangpu Ancient Port, whose construction started in the 22nd year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, used to contain the only customhouse in China at that time. Renovation of the port began on March 29 and has largely been completed. The port now consists of a commemorative exhibition area, the Ancient Port Park and ancient docks and plank roadways. |
