After departing from Jakarta in Indonesia, the Swedish ship Gotheborg finished the last leg of its journey to Guangzhou. Gotheborg arrived in the sea area south of Guangzhou Port at 12:30 and in Guishan anchorage at 15:53, where she will take a rest and enter the harbor at the scheduled time.
On the morning of July 13, the crew of Gotheborg finally saw the coastline of Guangdong province after 10 months' voyage. Guangzhou sailor Zhang Jie, dressed in a red T-shirt, hoisted a national flag of the People's Republic of China on Gotheborg. Chinese reporters on-board watched the rising flag and sang the national anthem of China. They were very excited to come home after the long journey at sea.
Captain Peter Kaaling said, "Today should be celebrated, for G?theborg is back and our dream comes true."
After lunch, the crew climbed the mast to reef the sails and began to drive the ship by engine. Zhang Jie was so happy that he sang the Chinese folk song Jasmine on the mask.
At 15:00, Gotheborg sailed into the sea area south of Guangzhou port, in cheers of the crew. At 15:53, Gotheborg moored in Guishan Anchorage.
