At the bank of the enchanted Pearl River, Governor Huang Huahua and vice governors hosted a welcoming banquet this evening (Nov 16) for the advisors and observers participating the International Consultative Conference on the Future Economic Development of Guangdong Province (GDICC) 2005 plenary, which will kick off tomorrow. These advisors and observers are leaders of multi-national companies and well-known scholars.

Governor Huang Huahua, in his welcoming speech on the banquet, expressed that he was fully confident that this Conference will strengthen the communication and exchanges between Guangdong and these advisors and observers, accelerate and optimize the economic and social development of Guangdong, and create a multi-win scenario.

About the banquet

The banquet, prepared by White Swan Hotel, is a feast of seafood cooked in typical Guangdong way. Source reveals, there is no chicken dishes in the banquet's menu, but as there is no bird flu case reported in Guangdong recently, the hotel do not erase poultries from its buffet menu and will serve well-cooked boiled eggs instead of sun-rise eggs in the buffet during the coming 2-day conference.

The fruit of the banquet, the Meizhou golden pomelo, is worth mention for it is a distinctive species of citrus that features sweet and refreshing taste. It is rich in protein, vitamins, multi-aminoacids and minerals. The planting of golden pomelo is greatly expanded in Meizhou, a city in east Guangdong and the species is well-received oversea and exported to many countries and regions in the world.
