GZ Development District receives environmental recognition

The Guangzhou Development District has been approved as an ISO14000 national environmental protection demonstration area. The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday (May 18) and Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Xu Deli, and Deputy Chief of the State Environmental Protection Administration, Zhang Lijun attended the ceremony.

Guangdong began an intensified environmental protection improvement campaign in Oct 2002 with the ISO 14000 as its goal. Guangzhou is Guangdong's the first city to receive this certification. Currently, there are three sewage processing plants in the district including an online-inspection system to regulate enterprises that produce over 300 tons of sewage per year.
