To improve the air quality, Guangzhou Environmental protection Bureau began its full implementation of its Blue Sky Project yesterday (October 20).
The department is conducting a full-scale law enforcement and supervision of 56 enterprises with large amounts of emissions of sulfur dioxide. The inspection will take place two weeks every month and last until the end of this year. This move is expected to guarantee that Guangzhou's air quality can measure up to the national second level standard. Currently, Guangzhou Environmental protection Bureau has punished 15 enterprises for their excessive emissions of sulfur dioxide and supervised their structures of emission. Guangzhou's sulfur dioxide emission in the air was 0.055 mg per square meter in September and the air quality has returned to the national second level standard.
