Toxic food, crimes, to-be-improve traffic infrastructures, house price hike...these are the problems Guangdong people most concerned. Guangdong government showed strong determination in solving these problems and its top policy making body and top advisory body offered many valuable proposals in their ongoing annual sessions.
Food Safety
"Punishing those involved in manufacturing and selling unsafe food as strictly as cracking down on corruption, and those cause serious results should be put into prison," said Ou Guangyuan, vice Party Secretary of Guangdong in a meeting about food safety.
Professor Qiu from South China University of Technology and also a member of the Provincial Committee of CPPCC suggested building up a food safety inspection and warning organization in related government department.
Public Security
"Guangdong's public is not so bad as heard, and the situation has improved a lot when I arrive Guangzhou this time", said Ye Zhendu, a committee member from HK.
Statistics shows the Criminal Cases in 2006 is 5.8% less than the previous year. And citizens are feeling safer in Guangzhou.
Traffic
"The fast development of the province cause the traffic jam", said Li Mingrui, a provincial committee member of CPPCC," Guangdong has doubled it's GDP to 2 trillion RMB in four years, and the population breaks 10 million. Such huge amount of population and economic activities will cause traffic jam in any city."
According to the reporters from Southcn.com, some proposals and suggestions are on how to improve the traffic situation, such as banning motorcycles, building more metro lines and widening the road.
Provincial government has spare no effort in solving the traffic problem. In the 10th "five-year plan" period (2000-2005), Guangdong has invested 11.464 billion RMB in the construction of highways, and has built 1954 kilometers expressway.
Housing Price
The government is striving to adjust the structure of the housing supply and ensure housing for low-income families.
The Guangdong provincial committee of China Zhi Gong Party has suggested building up a housing system to ensure the low-income families having habitation.
It suggested the government to build more affordable houses for low-income families and offered low-price rented house to the families below the lowest living standard.
