10 Key Aspects of the 11th Five-Year Plan Period (2006-2010)

In the coming five years, Guangdong will focus on improving 10 key aspects by launching 233 key projects, with a total investment of 1.5 trillion RMB. These include:

Transportation:

62 projects related to highway, railway, ports and airport, with a total budget of 537 billion RMB, among which 418 billion RMB will be input in the coming five years

Energy:

21 projects with an expected investment of 329 billion RMB. Key projects include the Ling'ao nuclear power plant Phase II and the Yangjiang nuclear power plant Phase I. Up to 14,142 km electricity transmission line will be generated

Water Conservancy:

22 projects with an input of 38 billion RMB over the next five years

Innovation:

26 projects. Promoting innovation projects and attracting support from the public

Modern heavy industry:

13 projects, with an investment of 358 billion RMB. Guangdong is to support shipbuilding and the manufacturing of large equipment, environmental protection facilities and automobiles. The province is expected to maintain the ability to produce 63 million tons of oil and 3.8 million tons of ethylene annually in 2010

Service Industry:

A total of 35 billion RMB will be invested in 19 projects, among which 29 billion RMB will be input in the coming five years

Rural area construction:

A total of 49 billion RMB will be injected into 11 projects, with 31 billion RMB invested in the coming five years

Environmental protection:

22 key projects, with a budget of 69 billion RMB. 49 billion RMB will be input in the next five years

Culture-related projects:

22 projects, worth 770 billion RMB in total, with 72 billion RMB of investments from 2006-2010.

Social security:

19 projects, 11 billion RMB input in total, with 10 billion RMB to be generated in the next five years
