Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province met Governor Linda Lingle of the State of Hawaii and her delegation in White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province Tuesday (June 14).
During the meeting, Huang welcomed Linda and the Hawaii delegation to Guangdong, saying that Lingle's visit was of great significance to promoting economic, political and cultural exchanges.
Huang said Guangdong and Hawaii had enjoyed longtime friendship and productive achievement had been made in the past 20 years, and Guangdong was to further cooperation with Hawaii.
Huang said he hope more enterprise of Hawaii could come to invest in Guangdong, and further cooperation be made in tourism, culture, science and technology.
Governor Lingle said that it was her first visit to Guangdong and to China, and she was astonished at China's great achievements. She expressed her great expectation to Governor Huang's visit to Hawaii this October.
A joint statement on Strengthening the Sister State-Province Relationship between Hawaii and Guangdong was signed after the meeting.
The Hawaii delegation is scheduled to visit Zhongshan City and the former residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen on Wednesday morning.
