Signing of Cooperation Agreement between Sun Yat-sen University and the University of Hawaii

University of Hawaii and Sun Yat-sen University sign a Cooperation Agreement in Guangzhou today (June 14), both sides agree to enhance cooperation in exchange of scholars and students, joint academic program & materials, joint research programs, joint conference and other academic exchange.
In his speech, Huang Daren, President of Sun Yat-sen University said, "We sincerely hope that the exchange and cooperation between the State of Hawaii and Guangdong Province will be elevated to a higher level. "
Huang also said, "As a university situated in Guangdong Province, we are willing and ready to play an important role in the exchange and cooperation between the two areas."
Backgrounder There has been a long history of links between Sun Yat-sen University and the State of Hawaii. The founder of this south China university, Dr. Sun Yat-sen studied for five years in Honolulu when he was young, and started his early democratic revolutionary work there.
Sun Yat-sen University and the University of Hawaii System came into contact in 1995, with the aim of becoming sister universities. Since then, the two universities have jointly launched many academic exchanges.
