To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sister State-Province Relationship between Guangdong and Hawaii, Linda Lingle, Governor of the State of Hawaii and her delegation will visit Guangdong province from June 14th to 15th.
Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province will meet Governor Lingle and her delegation and sign an anniversary reaffirmation agreement in White Swan Hotel Tuesday afternoon (June 14). Governor Lingle is the first sitting Governor of Hawaii to visit Guangdong Province.
Governor Lingle will preside over a UH system-wide agreement with Zhongshan University (Sun Yat-sen University) on Tuesday morning.
On Wednesday, the delegation will visit the birthplace of China's first post-revolutionary president, Sun Yat-sen, who was educated in Hawaii, as well as meet with members of the Hawaii Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
State of Hawaii is a sister State of Guangdong province and eighty percent of Hawaii's Chinese residents trace their roots to the Guangdong Province.
Year 2005 is the 20th anniversary of Sister State-Province Relationship between Hawaii and Guangdong.
