GD governor Huang Huahua exchanges opinions on GD-HK cooperation with HK celebrities on August 6th, 2003

Huang Huahua, the governor of Guangdong Province, attended the HK commercial and industrial celebrities forum, hosted by Tang Bingquan, deputy governor of Guangdong.

In the forum, Governor Huang Huahua mentioned the GD-HK cooperation should be based on the following four principles.

1. Be foresighted. The cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong is in line with the globalization of economy.

2. Be with macro view.  In order to become a world-class economic zone, both Guangdong and Hong Kong should united to form a strong Greater Pearl River Delta so as to improve their competitiveness.

3. Be pragmatic.  The cooperation between the two regions should be promoted step-by-step.

4. Seek mutual benefit.   The cooperation between GD and HK should be a long-term and win-win one.

In the prospective of Greater PRD development, Guangdong is to be developed into one of the most important manufacturing bases in the world and Hong Kong will be one of the most important logistic, financial service centers. But this does not mean to expel the manufacturing industry from HK or to refuse the development of service industry in GD. Both sides shall make the most of their advantages, work together to make PRD a center of manufacturing and service industries.

All efforts will be paid to help HK business invest in Guangdong and to assist HK people to establish business in Guangdong, as well as to help HK products to increase their shares in the Guangdong market.

All the cities in the province will be connected by highway network at the beginning of next year £¨2004£©. It will boost the development of east and west Guangdong as well as the mountain area. Hong Kong businessmen are welcome to invest in these regions.
