Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (HACTL), the dominant air cargo handler in the territory is to open a cargo consolidation center in the Futian free-trade zone, Shenzhen, reveals Chen Zhen, director of HACTL.
Chen says that the logistics center will offer all air cargo services that are provided in Hong Kong International Airport cargo terminals.
According to Chen, around 270 tons, accounting for 90% of the total cargo volume in Hong Kong International Airport, comes from Pearl River Delta. The logistic center will burden a part of logistics operation.
The clearance implementation of CEPA will boost construction of such logistics centers, which are expected to be built in Guangzhou, Zhongshan, and Zhuhai in the coming two years, says Chen.
