In the next five years, Guangdong will focus on development of economy, culture and legal system, and "harmonious society building" and "well-off society building" campaigns.

The province's core task is "development", and its key tasks include economic structure optimization, development mode switch, innovative capacity building and furthering mechanism reform and opening up.

The province shall keep an annual GDP growth rate of no less than 9 percent for the next five years. The per capita GDP in 2010 is to double that of 2000.

The energy consumption per GDP unit in 2010 shall fall by at least 13 percent as compared to that of 2005.

The public service, legal system, ecological environment and the people's daily life shall be improved.
